Everything You Need to Know Before Your Appointment
At Ramy Bahu, DDS, we are committed to creating a seamless, stress-free experience for every patient from the moment you walk through our doors. Our office is centrally located in Water Tower Place, right on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, with convenient access for those living or working in Streeterville, River North, South Loop, and the surrounding downtown neighborhoods.
Whether you're visiting us for a dental cleaning and exam, same-day emergency dental care, or a more complex treatment such as dental implants, our team is here to make your visit as comfortable and efficient as possible.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Upon arrival, our friendly team will greet you and guide you through the check-in process. While you wait, feel free to enjoy a complimentary beverage in our reception area. We welcome any questions you may have before, during, or after your appointment—your comfort is our priority at every stage.
If you need to reschedule an appointment, we kindly ask for at least 2 business days' notice so we can accommodate other patients and maintain efficient scheduling. Please contact our office as soon as possible to make changes.
Parking and Location Information
We offer validated parking for $14 at the John Hancock Center garage located directly across the street. Standard parking is also available in the Water Tower Place garage, where our office is located on the 9th floor in Suite 948W at:
Payment & Insurance
Post-Extraction Instructions
While preserving your natural teeth is always our goal, there are cases where tooth extractions or oral surgery are necessary. Proper post-op care is critical to healing and avoiding complications. Please follow these guidelines after your procedure:
- Do not smoke or use tobacco products
- Avoid using a straw for at least 24 hours
- Stick to cold beverages only during the first 24 hours
- Do not rinse or spit for 24 hours following surgery
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours
- Eat only soft foods and avoid irritating the extraction site
- Steer clear of spicy or highly seasoned meals
- Apply ice packs to reduce facial swelling (20 minutes on, 10 minutes off) during the first 48 hours
- Keep gauze in place unless directed otherwise
- Take Tylenol or ibuprofen as recommended, ideally before the numbness wears off
- Do not touch the extraction site with your tongue or fingers
Starting the day after surgery, use a warm saltwater rinse (1 tbsp salt in 1 cup of water) after meals to keep the area clean
When to Call Us After a Procedure
Please contact us right away if you experience any of the following:
- Nausea, vomiting, or persistent loss of appetite
- Fever, chills, or unexplained fatigue
- Bleeding that continues more than 4 hours post-surgery
- Severe swelling or jaw stiffness
- Pain that worsens or doesn’t improve after 3 days
- Signs of infection or a dry socket
